DCSA

The Digital Container Shipping Association, a non-profit founded in 2019 by the major ocean carriers to publish common technical standards for the industry, covering areas such as track-and-trace, the electronic bill of lading, and booking data.

DCSA standards are why a forwarder can expect carrier APIs and EDI feeds to share a broadly common shape rather than reinventing every integration. Its eBL and track-and-trace standards are the reference points most carrier digital roadmaps are measured against. For an integration-led workflow, DCSA conformance is a useful proxy for how cleanly a carrier's data will map.
